If you really want to be successful in network marketing there is one thing you simply must get clear in your mind.........network marketing is a team business and helping other people reach success must be your number one focus if you plan to ever see your own success! Now, I realize most of you are either in the business or considering it because you want to have financial freedom for yourself. I get that, but from experience I can tell you the fastest way to reach financial freedom is to help your downline have it!
If you are focused on your own bank account, your own personal gains you a really are missing out on the key to real success. I'm not just talking about that feel good thing you have from helping others either. I'm talking about the whole package..... the bank account you dream of, the lifestyle and freedom you dream of AND the satisfaction of helping others have that as well!
The crazy thing about network marketing is we all hear the spill about sponsor this number of people and teach them to do the same and as that process continues.........bingo, you reach financial freedom! Sounds awesome, doesn't it? So......why the heck doesn't it work just like that? It is undeniable on paper, your calculator can prove it out as well but why is it that when it comes down to it......it doesn't always pan out?
Well, you aren't going to like what I'm about to tell you but truth is...... there are a tons of network marketing companies, tons of sponsors to help you get started in them, and they are not all created equally! There are bad companies, bad sponsors, etc., etc. You need to do your homework before you decide to call a company home! And you really need to check out that sponsor as well! A good sponsor can help you avoid the pitfalls and if they are really good....they'll offer you the education you need, the help you need, and be there with you every step of the way. A good sponsor knows the ropes but they don't keep them a secret, they want to share everything they know with you and that sharing can help you create the business of your dreams. Now, here is the part you probably won't appreciate me saying but I'm not one to beat around the bush so here it is.........people are quitters and quitters, never finish the game! So that wonderful 5x5 or 2x3 or whatever, never gets done and of course the money never shows up because of it!
What you must be in this industry is consistent. You simply must understand that it isn't a matter of if but a matter of when you will have the income you dream of. Truly it is. The duplication happens, how fast depends on how you work, how you share, how you teach, how you learn, how you improve yourself on a consistent basis. Too often we see a new network marketer get started and boy they really get going, they are a walking billboard and they start off with a bang. Enter Uncle Joe who quickly tells them what a joke their new business is and they allow that little seed to take hold in their mind. The very next person they talk to that isn't interested, they fertilize that seed and doomsday begins to unfold for them. Really, it happens more often than you think. But, if you are with a great company, you have a great sponsor, you understand the real nature of the business........you won't allow those seeds to take hold. They'll fall on rocks instead and get washed away before they can have any impact whatsoever on your business. Do you argue with Uncle Joe? NO! You simply smile and let him know you appreciate his opinion. As your business continues to grow.......you can bet Uncle Joe will have a few questions down the road and of course at that point, you'll be ready to answer them! You see, it isn't personal when someone turns your opportunity or product down. It is no different than when you go shopping, you look at many things but you do not buy them all. You only buy what you are interested in at that time. Next time, you might be interested in something else. This is the same as your business opportunity or product. No really means, not now. So, why let that bother you?
If you are with a good company, have a good product line, good compensation, good leadership, good sponsor, etc., etc. the only key component left is YOU! So, what is it you are going to do with the opportunity at hand? And if it takes you one year, two years, 10 years, etc. to reach complete and total financial freedom, does it matter how long it took to get there as long as you reach your goal? I tell new associates that I want a full 6 month commitment from them right up front. I want them to be on autoship, I want them to be on every conference call, every webinar, etc. for a full 6 months. Sound unreasonable? I don't think so. This same person is telling me they are ready to truly own their own life. If that is true, they must be ready to do what it takes to own it! I'm not going to hand it to someone simply because they tell me they want it, but I'm darn sure going to devote myself completely to helping them achieve their dreams if they are willing to take the journey with me. I don't want to be their boss.....the whole reason we get into our own business is to fire our bosses so I darn sure don't want to be one! I'm simply going to offer everything in my power to help them see the success they dream of. If they throw it away.......I'll know I did my part. I won't beg, I won't try to convince, I won't fret about it. I have something wonderful to offer and I know it. If they are ready, they'll be ready for the entire journey. If not, I'll be ready for them when they get ready! 6months is a very short time......most people spend 20+ years slaving away at a job with boss only to realize that in their retirement years they will still need supplemental income. If 6 months could lay the groundwork to financial freedom.......is it unreasonable? You decide!
So, what is it that I do with new associates? For starters, I want to learn more about them. What do they dream of, what is their life like right now? Do they have a family? What about their time? How much time do they have on a weekly basis to work on their business? I want to know everything they are willing to share with me. Why? Because is I understand who they are and what they want, it is much easier to help them. I know who my part timers are, my full timers are and my big business builders are and I can work with each of them accordingly. I also learn from everyone, even the new network marketer! Yes, learning never stops and I'm the first to admit it. Ideas, comments, complaints, etc. all have lessons hiding within and I want to learn them and use them in my own journey. I offer education, a team building network, and many other perks to help assure every associate who wants to see success, sees just that. For some success might simply be a few extra hundred a month, for others success means hundreds of thousands per month. Either way, success is a personal thing and a joy to realize.
I consider myself to be easy to work with.....it doesn't matter to me if a person only wants to spend a couple of hours a week on the business or if they want to work full time. If they want to take month long vacations, fine. The only thing that really does matter to me is that they be upfront and honest with me about what they want to do. It is not my intention to convince or prod, it is my intention to help those that want the help.
We work through webinars, Skype, email, videos, e-books, etc. and it is an easy format for anyone regardless of background and regardless of time constraints. With the internet as we have it today.....our world is wide open. You can work early morning, middle of the night or whenever it suits your schedule. The key is, to actually work consistently! And sadly it is that consistency that many have a problem with.
